I realized I haven't written lately to chronicle the latest bachelors that I have met. I guess this could be because they weren't real note-worthy. I met bachelor # 16 for a drink one Saturday night after he had kept me wondering all day if he wanted to meet or not. He was kind of wishy-washy about it but kept saying we needed to hangout. I met him at Old Chicago and he got a beer and I ordered an ice tea because I didn't feel like drinking with him. I wasn't really attracted to him but he seemed nice enough. We talked for a few hours and I ended up going back to his place to hang out for a while. I really shouldn't have done that because like I said, I wasn't attracted to him and he really seemed rather dumb. He is the only guy I have met so far who had a college degree but I had to wonder how he managed to get it. I guess he could be book smart but general conversation wasn't too flowing. I still get texts from him but I really have no interest in him so I guess I need to just let him know soon. Bachelor #17 is a nurse who is also a single dad raising his daughter full time and his son part time. He works long hours at the hospital so he said it would be hard to meet each other. He said I could come to his house to meet him if I liked and since I had his name and could check him out, I decided it would probably be ok. He didn't want me to come until his kids went to bed so I couldn't go to meet him until 10:00pm. He seemed kind of quiet, but he did look exhausted so I am attributing his quietness to that. I stayed and visited for about a half hour and decided I should head home. I get a text from him now and then but he isn't good with following through with texts when I ask him questions so I guess he is flaking out on me. He hasn't asked me out and I'm tired of putting out the effort.
Bachelor #18 I met for hot chocolate on Black Friday. He was nice enough but I don't think the chemistry is there. We were talking about our dogs and he knows that I have basset hounds. He told me a horrible story saying he was always afraid of basset hounds because when he was a kid, there was a rabid basset hound in his neighborhood who would terrorize children and bite them. He said one day, a bunch of the kids decided to beat the dog to death with baseball bats. I just looked at this man in horror and told him I wished he hadn't told me that terrible story. What would possess a man to tell a woman who he has just met a dog beating story involving my favorite breed of dog. He then asked me to go back to his house to watch a movie. I politely declined and told him I was tired from a busy day of shopping and decorating.
I am so tired of meeting these men who just want a pen pal and don't want to go to the effort of dating. I think it's time I just start concentrating on myself again and maybe fate will bring me a nice man.
